Ever since I have gotten my hands on an SMT5600, I have been delighted by this phone as an email device, a camera, an MP3 player, etc. And it has convinced me that running Windows Mobile on a phone was the best way to ensure seamless interoperability with your Windows/Outlook desktop. However the SMT5600 is becoming a bit limited in terms of RAM capacity, quality of the camera and to some extent the fact that it is not “wireless broadband” capable.
I have been keeping an eye on the new cool phones - through the excellent blogs of “Mobile Diva” Darla Mack and MobHappy. There is, or was, obviously the much expected Treo 700w - but I have always found it a bit bulky. My buddy Ed Sim was lucky enough to test a demo model of the upcoming Motorola Q - and this one seems feature-packed, running Windows Mobile 5.0 and looking waayyyy cool.
When I was in Paris, I have played with Loic Le Meur's Nokia N90 and N70 (he is one of the lucky bastards A-listers who get all the cool phones from Nokia) and the quality of the pictures and videos of the N90 are certainly impressive because of the superior optics. But I am concerned about the bulkiness of that phone, and the fact that is does not run Windows Mobile.
So: I can't wait to get my hands on the Q, and if someone from Motorola Marketing reads this, sign me up for a blogger's early review - and I promise to show it to all my VC friends :-).
